The Chao Anouvong monument are the most visited in Vientiane. This monument along with That Dam (Buddhist monument), Presidential palace and We visited the Patuxia (Arch de Triumph), which simply is the victory monument. We enjoyed the city more than we thought as we were told it was not really worth the stop. A great hotel with a pool and breakfast! What a luxury! It was great to tour around the city and then have a dip in the Great deal on Agoda for the Best Western in the town center of Vientiane. We got a tuk tuk from the bus station into the town center. We made it early the next morning to the capital city of Laos. At least we were not going too fast and did not I think worse than India, so many potholes. Dean and I were sharing one, however, as they were rather small doubles and the bus was not full we VERY bumpy over night bus journey to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. We had a very chilled out 2 days before we caught a Not as we would have seen the whole place in about 10 minutes! We stayed in a great guesthouse and we enjoyed the food at “our local” hang out. We were thinking about getting a motorbike, luckily we did Pakse is a small town with lots of French colonial buildings. After our two-day trek to get to Laos via Thailand, we made it just over the border to Pakse in southern Laos!
